| Here comes another
Congestion Charge-beating service in the shape of
brand new route 388. Running from
Hackney Wick via Victoria Park, Roman Road and
Shoreditch to the Bank and Mansion House Station,
it looks a lot like the old 8A, a route that
helped out the trunk 8 for many years before
being downgraded progressively and finally
withdrawn with no trace remaining today.
The 388
gives Hackney Community Transport, also known as
CT Plus, its first double-deck operation, and
thirteen East Lancs Lolyne-bodied 9.9-metre
Dennis Tridents have entered service. They
operate out of Ash Grove garage, which is shared
with East Thames Buses.
TOP: HTL 3 (LR52 LTJ) is seen
at the Mansion House stand.
BOTTOM:
The rear aspect of HTL 1 (LR52 LTO) as it
crosses the Bank. The large horizontal aperture
was carried over from the Pyoneer body used by
East Lancs on Volvo Olympians. The livery doesn't
appear to be finished - that yellow portion
should be a large verson of the stylised letter
'C' carried on the back.
