The third of today's trio of
new services is numbered 360 and is a single-deck
operation. Starting from the Elephant &
Castle, it serves new territory via Black Prince
Road (where a 13'9" high bridge necessitates
the use of single-deckers), then fights its way
across Vauxhall and Vauxhall Bridge to Pimlico,
opening up roads not served by either the 24 or
C10 on its way to Sloane Square. The final leg is
also a new section via Draycott Place and Sloane
Avenue in Chelsea before reaching South
Kensington. Since the stand there is already
crowded with vehicles from routes 70 and 345
terminating, an ingenious loop is then performed,
taking the 360 via the Royal Albert Hall. Hence
the use of 'South Kensington Museums' on the blinds. Buses for the
London Central-operated 360, which runs every
twelve minutes, are five-year-old single-doored
Dennis Dart SLFs of LDP class. They have been
transferred to Camberwell from New Cross, where
their place on the 321 has been taken by
double-deck Volvo B7TLs.
At 2:45
this afternoon LDP 87 (R487 LGH) sets
off from the Elephant & Castle.
