After five years and one day
as a First Capital contract, route W8 returned to
Potters Bar garage today as Metroline London
Northern regained the route on tender. However,
due to an unfortunate oversight the route is
having to be run temporarily by single-deckers.
Its new Tridents have been diverted to the 297
(which is due to assume double-deck operation
shortly anyway) as they are ever so slightly too
tall to go under the 14'6" railway bridge at
Edmonton Green station without roof damage. Until
Enfield Council can be persuaded to lower the
roadway, Dart SLFs are the staple. It has just
started throwing it down as Potters Bar's DLD 67 (R167 VLA) sails
into Edmonton Green bus station on its way to
Picketts Lock late this afternoon. Interestingly,
this batch of Darts has been fitted with new
seating, despite being only five years old. |
