You know Transport for London are
broke when they sanction things like this.
All-over advert buses have made a comeback in
force this week, after two decades of the rather
implausible assertion that they confuse
passengers. As RML 2492, the last all-over
advert bus, was hideous in the extreme, so is the
first of today's editions, London General's Volvo
B7TL WVL 149 (LX53 BJK) . Once
you've recovered from the sheer onslaught of
pink, it actually takes a few minutes of working
out exactly what it is that's being advertised,
given that it looks like a kid drew all over the
bus in felt pen (perhaps it should operate in
Bexleyheath!). Turns out it's for London Fashion
Week, in connection with the Totally London
campaign - I think. Enthusiasts have already
dubbed it Pinko, so Pinko it is.
It's bad enough
that the 11's vehicle complement is already
completely anonymous following the OPO
conversion, but TfL need the money, so expect to
see many more all-over ads taking to a street
near you.
