Docklands Buses Takes Over The 549
Saturday 26th February 2005

Docklands Buses Optare Solo YM52 TSX at Loughton Station, 26/02/05 Up on the edge of north-east London, the 549 ploughs a lonely furrow amid the 4x4s of Footballers' Wives country between South Woodford and Loughton Station. This corridor has always been somewhat neglected, and today was no exception, because now that the 549 has passed on tender from Arriva East Herts & Essex to Docklands Buses, the service has been cut further from two buses to just one. It leaves South Woodford on the half-hour and Loughton on the hour (so guess who didn't get to Loughton until ten past twelve, requiring a long wait in raw weather? Thanks, delays on the Central Line!)

At least it gives permanent employment to a choice between two Optare Solos purchased by Docklands Buses two years ago, and setting off from Loughton at one o'clock is YM52 TSX.
